The module aims to build the capacity (knowledge and skills) of the students by providing inputs on project planning and management.

Learning Outcomes

 On completion of the module, students will be able to:

  • Explain about natural and non-natural disasters and their implications on environment and human beings,
  • Describe cycles of disasters: mitigation, preparedness, responses and recovery,
  • Explain on techniques of public education and awareness on disasters,
  • Use GIS, RS and GPS technologies as planning tools to prevent from impacts of disasters and to carry out disaster relief operations efficiently,
  • Assess the impacts of disasters on economy, health, emotional well-being and the entire community,
  • Describe and explain common disaster hazards in Bhutan and deal with appropriate mitigation measures,
  • Organize rescue teams and provide fast aid to the affected communities,
  • Communicate effectively with relevant authorities.
